She was born April 3, 1940, in Wauseon, Ohio, the daughter of Raymond and Gladys (Gigax) Mead.
Martha was a lifelong Fayette area resident. She was employed at Fayette Tubular and moved with the company to Tennessee where she worked for six years. She retired in 2003 after 43 years of service.
Martha is survived by three daughters, Irene Silkey and Julie (and Victor) Garcia, both of Wauseon, Ohio, and Grace (and David) Groves of Parrish, Ala.; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Canfield of Alvordton, Ohio, and Esther Sagnimeni of West Unity, Ohio; and one brother, Raymond Mead of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Fred and Charles Knicley.
Funeral services are scheduled at 1 p.m. Friday at Eagle Funeral Home in Fayette with Rev. Winston Hatcliff officiating. Burial will follow in West Franklin Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday (today) and Thursday.
