Ardith Metz, 93, of Munson Highway, Waldron, Mich., died Feb. 26, 2008, at her home.
She was born Oct. 23, 1914, in Fayette, Ohio, the daughter of Leroy and Lottie (Lyon) Borton. She married Claude E. Metz on Nov. 21, 1942, in Angola, Ind., and he preceded her in death Dec. 5, 1968.
Ardith was a graduate of Morenci High School and received a teaching degree from Siena Heights College in Adrian. She taught in several one-room schools in Lenawee County. She was a past member of the Morenci First Baptist Church and the Munson United Brethren Church.
Ardith is survived by two daughters, Judy (and Harold) Brackman of Fayette and Susan (and Richard) Smith of Fort Payne, Ala.; one son, Douglas (and Wanda) Metz of Clayton; a daughter-in-law, Carol Metz of Kennard, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Lewis of Morenci.
Besides her husband, Ardith was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Claude, Jr.; a granddaughter, Shannen Smith; two sisters, Blanche Salsbury and Gartha Lee; and two brothers, Max and Ward Borton.
Funeral services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Friday at Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with Rev. Jerry Lacey officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci. Visitation is planned from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Friday.
