Harold Schmidt, 69, of Morenci, Mich., died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at home.
He was born Dec. 5, 1938, in Medina Township, Mich., the son of Edwin and Bernita (Kutzley) Schmidt.
Harold was a life-long Morenci area resident and was a member of the Morenci Eagles. He was employed at General Broach in Morenci for 39 and a half years before retiring in 2004. In addition to his factory job, Harold also farmed until 1997 and hauled grain for area farmers up until December 2007.
Survivors include five daughters, Shelley Lockwood of Waldron, Mich., Sheryl (and Terry) Kutzley of Morenci, Stacey (and Don) Stone of Morenci, Sheila (and Mark Brown) Gerken of Clayton, Mich., and Jessica (and Tim) Nortley of Waldron; one son, Steven (and LeAnn) Schmidt of Pittsford, Mich.; 16 grandchildren; one brother, Albert (and JoAnn) Schmidt of Morenci; and sister-in-law, Grace Schmidt of Morenci.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Edwin “Junior” Schmidt, of Morenci.
Funeral service are planned at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with Rev. William VanValkenburg officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci.
Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
