Leona Hewitt, 93, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, at the Charlotte Stephenson Manor in Adrian.
She was born in Adrian on Dec. 22, 1914, to Floyd and Vera Brown. On April 3, 1941, she married Thomas Lynn Hewitt who preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1985.
Leona was known for her outgoing personality. Her love for the Lord drew her to be an active member of the Weston Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Weston Women’s Club and the Eastern Star. For years her grandchildren played with the spoils of her rock hunting hobby.
Leona is survived by a son, Richard (and Sherrie) of Morenci; two daughters, Carol DeLong of Jasper and Sally (and Skip) Sharp of Brooklyn; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a brother, Irving, of Lake Placid, Fla.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, four brothers, a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
She was buried at Weston Cemetery. A memorial service is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 17 at the Weston Methodist Church, with a luncheon following.
