Gaylord W. Parsons, 75, of Stryker, Ohio, died Friday Dec. 28, 2007, at the Defiance Area Hospice Inpatient Care Center in Defiance, Ohio.
Gaylord was born Sept. 15, 1932, in North Baltimore, Ohio, the son of the late Harley and the late Carrie (Kinney) Parsons. On Aug. 9, 1953, he married the former Joyce Arthur and she survives.
Gaylord was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he served as an English teacher and school administrator for 32 years.
Surviving besides his wife, Joyce, are three daughters, Glenda (and Rick) Marzolf of Schaffhausen, Switzerland, Sheri (and Jeffrey) Lloyd of Oakwood, Ohio, and Janelle (and Bruce) Whitlock of Stryker; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Marvelle (and Keith) Harris and a brother, Dean Parsons, both of North Baltimore, Ohio.
Preceding him in death were four sisters, Burnetta Higley, Leatha Gainer, Violet Johnson and Audrey Schuester, and a brother Glenn C. Parsons.
Graveside funeral services were Dec. 31 at Stryker with Pastor Don Barnett officiating. A memorial service followed at the Ridgeville Christ Community Church.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Ridgeville Christ Community Church, the Fayette United Methodist Church or the Defiance Area Hospice Inpatient Care Center.
