Iris Belle (Kunkle) Betts, 81, died Oct. 23, 2007, at Benzie County Medical Care Facility in Frankfort, Mich.
She was born Oct. 2, 1926, in Lenawee County, Mich., the daughter of Vernon and Gladys (Corkle) Kunkle. She married Kenneth Betts in 1949, and he survives in Frankfort.
Iris graduated from Fayette High School and then moved to Lansing, Mich. She was employed as a legal secretary for Thomas C. Walsh, in Lansing, retiring in 1983.
Her hobbies included reading, art classes, painting, traveling and her exercise classes at the “Y”. She also enjoyed watching the lightning show of a thunderstorm. She will be missed for her jokes and her enthusiasm for life and nature.
Besides her husband, Iris is survived by a son, Stephen Betts of Frankfort; a sister, Olive (and Eugene) Goff of Frankenmuth, Mich., and Sun City West, Ariz.; a brother-in-law, Richard Seibly of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Simon of Manotic, Ontario, Canada; three nieces; three nephews; and an uncle, Robert Corkle, of North Carolina.
She was preceded in death her parents; two sisters, Willo Kunkle and Faye L. Seibly.
Graveside services are scheduled at Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette, Ohio, at noon Nov. 8, followed by a luncheon at R&H Restaurant, 416 E. Main St., in Fayette.
