Linda L. Hibbard, 60, of W. Main St. in Fayette, Ohio, died Feb. 3, 2006 at home with her husband of 42 years at her side, after battling cancer for four years.
She was born July 10, 1945 in Wauseon, Ohio, the first of five daughters, to Clifford and Florence (Leininger) Ziegler. She married Nelson Hibbard on Nov. 10, 1963 at St. James Lutheran Church in Burlington, Ohio, and he survives.
Linda was office administrator at Camp Palmer at Harrison Lake near Fayette for the past seven years, retiring in 2005. She graduated from Northwest State Community College in Archbold and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa Academic Honor Fraternity and Alpha Omicron Mu.
While raising her sons, Linda was very active in the community. She was a Cub Scout den leader and served as treasurer, was a member of the Gorham Fayette School PTA, and was a member of the Fayette Child Study Club for 35 years.
Linda spent numerous hours with her granddaughters, handing down the sewing, knitting, crocheting and cooking talents she so loved, which were passed on to her by her mother.
Besides her husband, Linda is survived by three sons, Brad (and Laura) Hibbard of Waterville, Ohio; Trevor (and Lynette) and Tadd Hibbard, both of Fayette; four grandchildren, Alec Sills and Evan, Adrianna and Jennaya Hibbard; four sisters, Betsy (and Richard) Wyse, Susan Williams and Daun (and Mike) Figgins, all of Fayette, and Virginia (and Steve) Wolfe of Winter Haven, Fla.; her mother-in-law, Dorothy Hibbard of Fayette, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Allen James Ziegler.
Private funeral services were scheduled at Eagle Funeral Home in Fayette with Rev. Dean Leininger officiating. Burial was in Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette. Memorial contributions may be made to 4-H Camp Palmer.
