Art Call, 69, of Lyons, Ohio, died Aug. 26, 2007, at his home.
He was born July 1, 1938, in Canandaigua, Mich., the son of James “Jay” and Norine (Harper) Call.
Art was a lifelong Lyons area resident. He graduated from Morenci High School 1955. He retired from American Chain and Cable in Adrian, Mich., in 1988, with 33 years of service. After he retired, he worked with Sadler & Associates on cause and origin of fire, started an automotive repair business, and was a self-employed electrician.
Art joined the Lyons Royalton Fire Department in 1970. He served as first aid captain and later as assistant chief for 12 years. He served as the chief since 1995. He was an EMT, a member of the Elks in Wauseon, a member of the Village of Lyons water board and a member of Lyons Christian Church.
Art is survived by one daughter, Shelby (and Robert) Derby of Lyons; two sons, Grayling (and Michelle) Call of Napoleon, Ohio, and Aaron (and Sheri) Call of Lyons; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a twin sister, Arlene Cutler, of Canandaigua.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Elwyn Call, in 1952; and brother-in-law, Larry Cutler.
Funeral services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Thursday at Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci, with Pastor Mary Burroughs officiating. Burial will follow in Lyons Cemetery.
Visitation is planned from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. and 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. A firemen walk-through honoring Art will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
