Fayette High School students will have the option of joining the FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) following school board action last week.
Board approved beginning a local branch of the organization for family and consumer education students, with Audra Roesti serving as the advisor for fiscal year 2014.
The club has a beginning fund balance of $864, with proposed revenue of $720 from dues, fair activities and a fund-raiser. Proposed expenses of $746 are expected to cover participation in a district rally, affiliation on the national and state level, fund-raiser expenses and transportation costs for field trips and projects.
SCHEDULE—The board met for a public hearing to discuss a state recommendation for changing the way classroom time is measured. Beginning in the next school year, an annual account of student time in the classroom would be measured in hours rather than days.
DONATIONS—Board members accepted a $2,700 donation from the Fayette Athletic Boosters for varsity girls basketball uniforms and $325 from Barbara Bruggeman for Class of 2014 class shirts.
PERSONNEL—The board approved Buffy Riley as a volunteer accompanist for the junior high/high school choirs pending appropriate background checks.
COMPLIANCE—A three-year contract with Public School Works was approved at a cost of $1,250 each year. The company will provide on-line training for required regulatory compliance programs.
CLOSED SESSION—Board members met in a closed session to discuss legal matters.
