Three Morenci programs will share $1,065 in United Way funding from money donated during the 2013 campaign. The Community Fund Distribution Committee announced disbursements last month.

Local funding directs $355 to the Morenci Elementary School winter weather wear program, $355 to the City of Morenci summer recreation program and $355 to the Stair Public Library summer reading program.

Funds were also directed to programs that serve all of Lenawee County, such as the  Central Michigan 2-1-1 Call Center.

In addition to Morenci, funds are distributed in Adrian, Addison, Blissfield, Britton, Clinton, Deerfield, Hudson, Onsted, Sand Creek and Tecumseh.

The Community Fund Distribution Committee is comprised of a team of volunteers from each community who review the submitted applications and make funding recommendations, based on available funds, to the Lenawee United Way Board of Directors.

The Community Fund Distribution process is part of the mission of Lenawee United Way as a way of reaching the needs specific to each community “to create a measurably better life for the people of Lenawee County.”
