Planning continues for Bullthistle Fest 2013.07.03

Posted in 2013 July

Parade entries, crafters, contestants and, of course, bull thistles are all needed for Fayette’s summer festival.

This year’s Royal Bull Thistle Arts Festival is scheduled Aug. 3 and there’s still time to register an entry for the parade. Send information to Lucy Molitierno by writing to her at P.O. Box 4, Fayette, OH 43521.

Craftspeople should use the same address for writing to Wendy Kessler to request a space in the Grove. Regular sized booths are available for $25 each.

There is also the new Bean Creek Arts Booth for those who have only a few handmade items to enter. The fee for this is $5 per person.

“This is a great way to display crafts made by local talent and help make people in the area aware of good crafts and crafters that are available,” said festival committee member Ruth Marlatt.

The Prince and Princess Contest entry form is a coloring page this year. Fayette School District students from the ages of 5 to 10 are eligible to color a page and write one sentence about: “What you like best about the Bull Thistle Festival.” The entry forms are at the Post Office and the Library in addition to several businesses in town.

This year’s festival T-shirts are available to purchase at My Sister’s Attic in downtown Fayette. They sell for $10 each and $12 for the 2X sizes.

“Don’t forget to stake out a bull thistle for judging,” Marlatt said. “Prizes are topics of conversation wherever they are displayed.”

Awards are presented in several categories, from height to girth.
