Information sought in hit-and-run incident 2013.06.26

A young Morenci man remains under medical care following a hit-and-run incident June 14 and the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department is continuing its investigation.

At 10 p.m. June 15, the Fulton County Sheriff’s office responded to the report of an injury accident on County Road 23 near the Ohio-Michigan state line.

Tyler James, 18, of W. Coomer Street, Morenci, was driving alone on C.R. 23 when he had a flat tire. He called friends for assistance and Tyler Arnett, 20, of Tecumseh, arrived with an air compressor.

James was standing by his car when he was struck by a northbound vehicle that failed to stop after the accident and drove on into Michigan.

Arnett was struck by the air compressor but did not receive serious injuries. 

The vehicle is described as a small newer sedan, and is expected to show left front damage to the headlight assembly and possibly the front bumper.

The Fulton County Sheriff’s office was assisted by Fayette Fire and EMS, Archbold Advance Life Support and Life Flight.
