Morenci schools will take a fresh start for the next school year with the impending departure of three administrators.
Secondary principal Kelli Campbell announced to her staff last week that she accepted a job as a curriculum specialist for the Berrien County Intermediate School District.
Elementary principal Mary Fisher told her staff Monday that she’s been hired to serve as Clinton’s elementary school principal. Fisher lives in Clinton.
Finally, the Hudson Board of Education voted Monday to end the shared services agreement, with the intent to hire Dr. Michael Osborne as a full-time superintendent. He has served as a shared superintendent with Morenci since April 2010. Morenci and Hudson board members voted in June 2012 to renew Osborne’s contract for three years through the shared services agreement.
All three administrators are expected to continue working in Morenci through the end of June.
Morenci Board of Education president Scott Merillat sees a bright spot amid the changes as the board continues to make cuts in spending for the next school year.
“This does allow us to put a new administrative structure in place,” Merillat said. “We were trying to work around the contracts of current personnel; now we can put in place what will work best for our district.”
