Zoning hearing planned in Fayette 2013.01.02

Posted in 2013 January

A hearing by the Fayette Zoning Board of Appeals is scheduled at 7 p.m. Monday in the Fayette council chambers. The purpose of the hearing is to collect public opinion on a conditional use permit sought by the United Methodist Church.

Church members intend to construct a 60-foot by 100-foot fellowship hall on property across from the church at the corner of 306 E. Main St. and 306 E. Fulton St. A parking area will be included. A conditional use permit is required because the property is located within a district zoned for residential use.

If the permit is approved by the zoning board, the church will apply for a variance relating to the front and side set-back, lot area, lot width and parking space—a requirement for structures with church-related uses.

Fayette village administrator Steven Blue said the plans for the building indicate the structure should provide an attractive addition to the neighborhood.
