Anniversary: Grace and Don Sly 2012.10.03

anniv.slyDonald and Grace Sly will celebrate 60 years of marriage. Grace Eckert and Donald Sly, high school sweethearts, were united in marriage Oct. 11, 1952, at Fayette Church of Christ (Fayette Christian Church).

They have lived in Fayette all their lives. Don was a farmer, worked at Hayes-Albion in West Unity, and retired from Sauder Woodworking. Grace was a nurses’ aide at Morenci Area Hospital, worked in the office of Drs. Whitehouse and Diccion and was employed at Bank of Lenawee.

Since retirement, Don enjoys collecting and restoring antique tractors, while Grace continues to bake apple pies that ensure the grandchildren will visit, and keeps a busy schedule of volunteer activities.

The couple has three children, Joe (and Linda) Sly of Fayette, Susan Burke of Sarasota, Fla., and Becky, who is deceased. They also have six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

An open house is planned to honor the couple from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, at the Fayette Opera House. Friends are invited to join them along with their family for dessert and fellowship.
