Live music and an outdoor movie are on the agenda Saturday night for the Morenci Area Chamber of Commerce.

The public is invited to a free evening of entertainment at Wakefield Park during the Chamber’s family event.

The Chamber is renting a large inflatable movie screen from FunFlicks to show “The Lorax” based on the Dr. Seuss book. FunFlicks provides the projection equipment, sound system and screen.

The movie will be shown on the main ball field and viewers are invited to sit in the bleachers or to bring chairs and blankets for seating on the field. Morenci’s Rex Theatre will not be open that night.

Popcorn will be available for movie watchers, with the screen lighting up at 9:15 p.m.

The evening entertainment starts at 7 p.m. as the Border Town band mounts the park stage for a two-hour performance. Band members include Scott Thompson, John Garrow, Dusty Lead and Josh Steinmetz.

BRIDGE WALK—The Chamber’s annual Labor Day Silver Creek Bridge Walk will raise funds for Stair Public Library’s Prime Time Family Reading Time program that continues in September for the third of three planned series.
