An informational meeting regarding wind turbines is scheduled June 27 at the Morenci American Legion on Morenci Road.
Seneca Township resident Lori Glisson has invited representatives of Interstate Informed Citizens Coalition (IICC) to speak at the meeting and answer questions.
The IICC describes itself as dedicated to raising public awareness of the potential impacts from the construction of industrial wind turbines, stating that protection of health, safety and welfare should be the primary concerns of government leaders.
After the Seneca Township board approved an ordinance in March to govern the development of wind energy facilities, Glisson and her husband, Ron, launched a petition drive to seek a referendum on the ordinance. The Glissons contend that the ordinance falls short in guaranteeing the well-being of township residents.
Township residents will decide at the Aug. 7 primary election whether the ordinance should stand as is or be recalled for additional work.
The public is invited to attend the meeting.
