Morenci's new mowing ordinance in effect 2012.04.11

Posted in 2012 April

Morenci’s new lawn mowing ordinance is now in effect and property owners who don’t comply could face a fine.

City council passed an ordinance last August that does away with warning notices. Instead, a public notice will appear in the Observer once a month from May through August to remind residents of the law.

City workers will mow grass found to be higher than eight inches.  An invoice will be mailed to cover the cost and payment must be made within 30 days or an additional $50 fine could be assessed. A civil infraction ticket could also be issued.
