Consignment shop opens in Fayette 2011.11.30

Looking to save some cash in the clothing department? A new store in Fayette could fill the need.

Nancy Lavinder, along with her husband Trent, have opened My Sister’s Attic Consignment Shoppe on Main Street in downtown Fayette. A grand opening and open house is scheduled Friday and Saturday.

“Trent and I have talked about it for a couple of years,” Nancy said. “Last year we decided to go with it.”

She was hoping to get the store open over the summer, but the project didn’t move that quickly. The delay has given them time to do some interior work to the building that Nancy says is her favorite one in town.

Located at 109 W. Main St., her sister Marcia once had an upholstery shop in the building. The structure was built as a bank, Nancy said, and the teller stations are still in place.

Nancy will sell only pre-owned adult clothing, along with some furniture. There will also be some new clothing on sale from a boutique in Adrian.

Consignments will be accepted, but only at Nancy’s discretion.

Where did she get the name for the store?

“I have enough stuff in my own attic that I could open my own store,” Nancy said, adding that the items in her attic are not all her own.
