The Fulton County Commissioners have filled a long-vacant post, but unfortunately for Fayette residents, their village administrator was taken to fill it.
Amy Metz will soon begin working as the grants coordinator and marketing specialist for Fulton County.
Metz was hired as Fayette village administrator in April 2008 on a part-time basis and changed to full-time status a year ago. Metz said she wasn’t looking for a new job, but was approached by county administrator Vond Hall about filling the vacant slot.
It was a tough decision to make, she said, but it was made easier with the prospect of daytime meetings only, giving her more time to spend with her daughter. Her village administrator post, on the other hand, requires an array of council and committee meetings in the evening, along with other miscellaneous gatherings.
In her new post, Metz will be expected to prepare state and federal grant applications; monitor pending legislation effecting economic development; coordinate marketing efforts; and provide technical assistance to governmental entities seeking grants;
She will also assist the county administrator in advertising for bids; attend progress meetings and coordinate change orders for projects; conduct public hearings and other duties.
Hall said the commissioners chose Metz because of her knowledge of government operations, her experience in speaking and writing to groups, her ability to coordinate contracts and leases, her experience in supervising and evaluating personnel and her ability to coordinate public relations.
