Fayette council members are still seeking a new member to replace Paula Ferguson who announced her resignation earlier in the month.

Councilors retreated to a closed session at the June 22 meeting after hearing brief presentations by two residents willing to fill the vacant post—Brad Merillat and Eugene Rosinski.

After meeting in private for 20 minutes, councilors returned and Fayette mayor Ruth Marlatt announced that a decision would be postponed.

One or two other possible candidates are on vacation, she said, and council decided to await their return before making its choice.

CONSTRUCTION—Due to changes in the Gamble Road widening project, portions of the work will be re-bid and construction will be delayed.

Village administrator Amy Metz told council the project will now begin after the Aug. 6 Bull Thistle Festival. The three-week project is expected to be completed before the start of school on Aug. 25.

Some of the work can be completed before construction begins, Metz said, which should assure completion of the road leading to the school before classes begin.

SURVEY—After only 30 percent of residents near the proposed West Industrial Parkway road resurfacing project returned income survey forms—a requirement for obtaining a grant—a door-to-door effort is now underway in an attempt to reach the required 87 percent return.
