Breakfast on the Farm event is Saturday 2011.06.22

Families are invited to learn about farming from the experts Saturday morning when the MSU Extension Service present Breakfast on the Farm at the Raymond and Stutzman farm north of Seneca.

The free event allows visitors to participate in self-guided farm tours, enjoy a home-cooked breakfast and learn about modern-day farming from a variety of local farmers volunteering for the program.

The program is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine, with breakfast served from 9 a.m. to noon. The Raymond and Stutzman Farm at 8055 Seneca Hwy.

The breakfast—featuring a variety of Michigan and Ohio grown and produced menu items—is free, but a ticket must be obtained prior to the event. Tickets are available at Stair Public Library, First Federal Bank branches in Morenci and Hudson, the Hudson Public Library, the Clayton Library, Fayette’s Normal Memorial Library, Wauseon branches of Farmers and Merchants State Bank on Shoop Avenue and the downtown office;

the Ohio State University Extension Fulton County Office in Wauseon, the Wauseon Public Library, Hillsdale County Farm Bureau, MSU Extension Hillsdale County Office, Evergreen Community Library in Metamora, and Farmers and Merchants State Bank in West Unity.

Actvities will include events such as petting a calf, climbing into the seat of a tractor or combine and discovering how GPS technology is used to plant crops.
