Code Red alert system 2011.06.02

Posted in 2011 June

Lenawee County residents are now able to receive telephone alerts for notification of approaching severe weather.

The Code-Red alert system requires a brief registration process before your number is added to those who receive a notification of severe weather, both to land lines in a home or business and to cellular phones.

Users can choose among three severe weather events for notification or select all three.

After registration is complete, alerts will be sent from the phone number 866/419-5000.

The contact information collected in the registration process will not be used for any other purpose.

To register, visit the Lenawee County website (http://www.lenawee.mi.us) and look for the Emergency Management link on the top right side of the page. Those who do not have access to a computer can receive assistance at Stair Public Library.

The service is provided by a grant from the Department of Homeland Security.
