The seventh annual Military Families’ Appreciation Fun Day is scheduled May 22 at the Wauseon VFW Hall, 1133 N. Ottokee St., Wauseon.

This event is co-sponsored by the Fulton County Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Wauseon VFW Post 7424.

A buffet will begin serving at 12:30 p.m., with the program to follow at 2 p.m. The event is free and open to all families in the area who have members serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.

The speaker will be Gold Star Mother Sharon Belkofer.  Music will be provided by Jack Schib. Door prizes donated by the Red Cross Board members and VFW will be given away throughout the afternoon.

Dan Ross has volunteered to take photographs of each family for them to send to their service member. Families are asked to bring a picture of their serviceman/woman for a display. The photographs will be returned at the end of the afternoon.

Nancy Sturtevant will be available from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. to draw caricatures of family members. She can also draw them using a photograph of your service member. A balloon launch will close the program.

There is no cost. To register, contact the local Red Cross office at 419/335-4636 or e-mail [email protected] or call VFW representative Nancy Vela at 419/335-0591.
