Seneca Township has scheduled another tire collection in June.
The event is planned from 7 a.m. to noon June 25 at the township hall. As in the past, the event will be open to the public and a fee will be charged for the disposal of tires.
The township board approved April 11 a road maintenance contract with the Lenawee County Road Commission for 100 tons of stone costing $14,664. The contract specifies that the work will be completed within 60 days of the signed contract, at the township’s discretion for the location and timeline.
A contract was also approved for fire protection with the Morenci Fire Department for the 2011-12 budget year. Release of the 10 percent increase to the Morenci Area EMS was also approved.
CEMETERY—Board member Chris White volunteered to clean up brush at the Packard Cemetery.
VOTING—The township’s old voting machines will be sold as scrap, as previously approved by the board.
ANIMAL—Roy Speiser was granted permission to raise 4-H animals at his house on a temporary basis. He sought a temporary permit since his property doesn’t meet the three-acre minimum for farm animals.
PROPERTY—Pat Spooner spoke to the board about a North Morenci resident who has belongings on Spooner’s land. The board approved a motion to send a letter to the offender that gives a May 1 deadline to comply before the township takes legal action.
BUDGET—The board heard the first reading of the proposed 2011-12 budget.
COMMISSION—County commissioner Cletus Smith gave a report to the board about recent business that the commission is discussing.
