Battle of Bands entries sought 02.09.2011

Registration is underway for the 2011 Morenci Town & Country Festival “Battle of the Bands.”

This will mark the fourth year of the battle which has grown to become the second largest event next to the fireworks show, said organizer Kent Deatrick.

The first year of competition included nine bands, with one winner chosen.  The second year involved five bands and three winners.  In 2010 there were seven bands with two winners—one determined by popular vote and the other by three judges.

Two winners will be selected again this year, one among the progressive/industrial/metal bands and one from classic rock/country bands.

A $50 entry fee will be charged, along with a $50 performance deposit that will be refunded after a band fulfills its obligations agreement. The two winners will split the total amount collected from entrance fees.

The winners will be chosen from votes  cast on a paid per vote basis. Votes will cost $1 each, with quantity discounts at $5 and $10. Application forms are available at http://drwebs.com/battleofthebands/2011/bands2011.htm.

The event is scheduled June 24 at the Town and Country Festival.
