Posted in 2010 September

Morenci Garden Club members were joined by two guests, Michelle Stevens and Doris Baltes, as they toured other members’ gardens Aug. 17.

The club’s monthly meeting was at De-Mor Hills Golf Course, with dinner following.

The treasurer’s report listed $2,517 in the checking account and $2,279 in savings. Members discussed their dissatisfaction with this year’s hanging baskets, and different plants will be chosen for next year. Wave petunias and sweet potato vine may be considered.

Committees have been busy with Adopt-a-Highway work, as well as plantings in front of the library, at the veteran’s memorial in Wakefield Park, and at the city’s entrance on M-156.

The Jeri Ries residence at the corner of Locust and N. Summit was chosen as Garden of the Month.

The next meeting is scheduled at 7 p.m. Sept. 21, in the Library Annex. The program will be about flower arranging.
