Fayette was chosen by the Fulton County Health Department for a visit with the mobile WIC unit—the initial trip to a county community by the vehicle.
The unit will be parked in front of the Fayette Opera House from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15.
The primary purpose of the visit, said Linda Burkholder of the health department, is to provide family planning information and to offer immunizations (excluding flu shots).
Limited nursing services will also be available, such as blood pressure checks and pregnancy tests. Information will be provided about the WIC program (Women, Infants and Children) for children up to three years of age.
Immunizations are available for all ages.
The mobile WIC unit was scheduled through the health department’s outreach program to serve at-risk residents in the northwest section of the county, Burkholder said.
