The Fayette Area Chamber of Commerce chose Dick for his extensive community service, exemplifying “the finest characteristics of our community.”

Dick is a long-time member of the Gorham Fayette Fire Department. He formerly served as a village council member and as a member of the Board of Zoning Appeals.

He has been involved with the Fayette Food Pantry, the Fayette Opera House and the Fayette United Methodist Church. He volunteers for meal delivery to senior citizens and he’s contributed to the operation and maintenance of the community park.

“Common to all of Fayette’s Citizens of the Year is their commitment to community,” said Chamber of Commerce president Tom Spiess. “Dick Buehrer represents such a person.”

Spiess said that Dick’s wife, Virginia, is often linked to his successes.
