A Fayette woman is dead following an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Lucas County coroner’s office is expected to rule Wednesday or Thursday on the cause of death for Patricia E. Lavinder, 23476 County Road S, Fayette.

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Department was called to the Lavinder home shortly after 1 p.m. Monday with the report of a possible shooting. Friends and relatives had visited the Lavender home, said Fulton County Sheriff Darrell Merillat, and called 911 after discovering her condition.

Upon arrival, deputies found Lavinder, 55, with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the abdomen.

She was transported by the Fayette Rescue Squad and ALS 1 to Archbold Hospital and later taken to St. Vincent Medical Center by LifeFlight helicopter. She died Tuesday.

The coroner’s office will rule on the cause of death following an autopsy. The incident remains under investigation by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.
