Morenci city council member Leasa Slocum told councilors she’s heard from two local gardeners interested in participating in a farmer’s market this summer.

Fliers inviting other producers to participate will be taken to farmer’s markets in nearby communities.

“We’re trying to interest them in coming here,” Slocum said.

In addition to garden vegetables, she welcomes other items such as fruit, flowers, shrubs, trees and home-made craft items.

Vendors will be charged $25 for the six-month season. The market will be set up in the parking area behind the Borchardt Brothers supermarket.

Vendors should contact city hall for more information.
