• Air Force Airman Matthew P. McClain graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is the son of Linda Cuellar of Mulberry Road, Morenci, and Paul McClain of Erie St., Clayton.

McClain is a 2008 graduate of Morenci High School.


• Private First Class Timothy Apger of Morenci, a member of  the 1776th Military Police Company, Michigan Army National Guard, was recently promoted to the rank of Specialist. 

Specialist Apger, a military policeman, has been a member of the National Guard for two years since his graduation from Morenci Area High School in 2008.

He is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice at Eastern Michigan University.

He is the son of Ron and Autumn Apger of Morenci.
