Quinn to perform in Fayette's Glasgow series 4.21.10

Posted in 2010 April

Tommy Quinn is the featured organist at the Glasgow Organ Series Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Fayette Opera House.

Quinn grew up in the small town of Hackelburg, Ala., where he was constantly surrounded by music. His brother Tony helped him get started playing the piano by showing him a scale and some chords. His love for music grew and he received a performing arts scholarship to a local community college in 2009, and now he sings in the chorus and is a chorale accompanist at the college.

His love for reed organs began by listening to the sound of one at a local antique store, and that was the beginning of his fascination with reed instruments. He has since acquired and restored some reed instruments.

The public is invited to the attend the concert, and the reception following.

Tickets cost $10, with discounts available for seniors, students and groups of 10 or more. Children 10 and under are admitted free with adult an ticket.
