Riley Burk on winning FFA team 03.10.2010

Two LISD TECH Center FFA teams will advance to the state competition following the regional contests last month at Blissfield High School.

Morenci’s Riley Burk is one of the members of the Greenhand Conduct of Meetings team comprised of ninth and tenth grade students from the LISD TECH Center Natural Sciences evening class. The team placed first in the region. The Parliamentary Procedure team finished second.

The regional competition included teams from Jackson, Hillsdale, Washtenaw, Monroe and Lenawee counties.

The Greenhand Conduct of Meetings Team and the Parliamentary Procedure Team will demonstrate their skills in front of hundreds of their peers at the State FFA contests this week at Michigan State University.

In addition to Burk, other members of the Greenhand team are Lydia Daisher, Onsted; Abby Carpenter, Madison; Katie Ercolino, Onsted; Brianna Henry, Onsted; Josh Hassenzahl, Britton; and Craig Trombley, Britton High School.

Parliamentary Procedure, 2nd place gold: Kyle Tanner, Madison; Alexandra Mahrle, Clinton; Tedd Bergeron, home school; Jacob Halsey, Madison; Anthony Finkbeiner, Clinton; and Michelle Curtis, Tecumseh.

Agricultural Issues Forum, 3rd place gold: Allison Pape, Madison; Emily Kutzley, Morenci; Cortney Lockwood, Morenci; Jennica Warner, Onsted; and Jared Shepherd, Onsted.

Demonstration, 4th place gold: David Stutzman, Morenci; Bryce Downard, Tecumseh; Kelby Alcock, Sand Creek; John Wielfaert, home school.
