Fayette school wind turbine 03.10.2010

Architect Kent Buehrer will review bids for  a wind turbine project at the March 15 meeting of the Fayette Board of Education. Bids were due March 1.

Superintendent of schools Russell Griggs is seeking an extension on an Ohio Department of Development grant to support the wind turbine project.

The $200,000 grant is set to expire March 25 and an extension is sought through the end of the year.

In addition to that grant, the board intends to use funds from the Ohio School Facilities Commission (OSFC)—the agency funding the construction of new schools in the state, including Fayette’s new building. Griggs received verbal approval from an OSFC staff member last June to use the remaining $600,000 from the new school fund, but final approval has not been received.

A bid addendum opened bidding to either a 225 or 250 kwh turbine on either a 40-meter or 50-meter tower.
