A veteran Gorham-Fayette Fire Department member was honored last month with a longevity award.
Dick Buehrer, a 50-year member of the department, received the Zenobia Shriner Firefighter Award for Longevity at a ceremony Feb. 14 in Toledo. The award was presented by Toledo 11 news anchor Chrys Peterson.
“Dick has been a member of the fire department for 50 years and has made about 80 percent of the calls,” fire chief Tom Franks said. “He has held several offices with the department and is highly respected by all members.”
Buehrer’s family was present at the ceremony along with Chief Franks and Rescue Captain Leslie Clemenson and her husband.
“All the members of the GFFD would like to commend Dick for all his dedication to the community and the fire department all these years,” Franks said.
