Melvin (Babe) and Pauline Jones of Fayette, Ohio, will celebrate 70 years of marriage. The couple was united in marriage March 2, 1940, and they continue to be each other’s best friends.
Babe and Pauline have lived in Fayette most of those 70 years and have been active members of the community. Babe runs a small manufacturing business, and Pauline worked as a librarian for many years. Retirement wasn’t part of their plans, so they both continue to work in one form or another. Pauline volunteers at Serenity Haven, and Babe continues to head off to the office every day.
Anyone acquainted with them knows that the center court line was “home” to them over all the years of high school basketball. No matter which grandkid was handling a ball, running a course, or participating in a school event, they were there.
Babe and Pauline have two children, Jamie and Sandy Jones of Big Rapids, Mich., and Jim and Joyce Fruchey of Fayette. They also have two grandsons Brian (and Lesley) Fruchey and Corey (and Melanie) Fruchey, both of Fayette, and great-grandchildren, Hailey and Dustin Tuley of Hampstead, N.C., Mackenzie, Alexis, Kelsey and Trista of Fayette, and two step-grandchildren, Tyler and Katelyn Downing, also of Fayette.
Due to health issues, Babe and Pauline will celebrate quietly at home. Cards and notes of congratulations may be sent to P.O. Box 331, Fayette, OH 43521.
