Morenci area pet owners won’t have to travel far to obtain grooming for their dogs with the opening of Pampered Pooch Pet Grooming.
The business is located at 201 W. Main St.—the former office of Dr. Pulisetty, alongside the alley leading to city hall.
Morenci native Daniel Long has scheduled a grand opening Saturday.
Long completed the Penn Foster Career School grooming program a few months ago and noticed the need for a grooming service in town.
He will receive assistance from veteran groomer Cheryl McDowell of Adrian and he’s ready to handle any breed of dog.
“Most shops accept only small dogs,” Long said.
He will offer breed standard grooming and show grooming, along with bathing, nails, ears and eyes and de-skunking.
He’s had to deal with his own dog who had a skunk encounter, but he said there are products out now that aren’t as messy as the traditional tomato juice method, and they work much faster.
Walk-in customers will be accepted during open hours Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, but Long said it’s best to make an appointment.
He’s offering a grooming special Saturday: a bath and nail trim for $10, half the regular rate.
