Morenci school yearbook staff honored 02.10.10

Morenci Area High School’s yearbook staff earned an Honorable Mention Certificate of Recognition from Taylor Publishing for its dedication, effort and accomplishments. Morenci’s yearbook will be listed in the 2010 Yearbook Yearbook. Kate Joughin was the editor and Heather Walker is the adviser.

Yearbooks published by Taylor for the 2009 school year were evaluated in one or more of the following areas: cover design, theme development, layout design, photo content and secondary packages.

“We were thrilled when we found out early in the fall that we were even being considered for the Yearbook Yearbook, said Ms. Walker. “It took several months to learn we had advanced to the semifinals, then last week we received notice of the honorable mention.”

“Since Taylor publishes nationwide and only the top 15 percent are chosen for inclusion in Yearbook Yearbook, even honorable mention is quite an accomplishment.”

She said Morenci has been affiliated with Taylor for more than 30 years and she’s not aware that The Revista was ever before considered for Yearbook Yearbook.

“Being selected for Yearbook Yearbook is like being handed an Oscar, an acknowledgment of superior quality,” Judi Coolidge of Taylor Publishing wrote in a letter to the yearbook staff. “But more important, your work will be admired by thousands of student journalists who use Yearbook Yearbook as an inspiration to ignite their creative process.”
