A pair of public hearings are scheduled at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Fayette council meeting.
Both proposals have received clearance by zoning board members and now await a final decision by village council.
One proposal calls for a zoning change from residential to highway commercial for construction of a Dollar General store.
The property measures 160 feet wide along Main Street and 330 feet deep into a vacant field owned by Don and Jane Stiriz on the west edge of the village. The property is located next to the Stiriz’s Rorick house at 611 W. Main St.
Don Stiriz said he was approached by an investment company interested in developing the property. Stiriz said he and his wife visited a few other nearby Dollar General locations and were impressed with the appearance and operation of the stores.
He said a decorative fence will be erected by the company.
The second hearing seeks council’s approval for a variance on the village fence ordinance regarding fences.
Owners of the Eagle Car Wash are seeking a waiver to the 18-inch setback from the property line requirement for fences.
