Fulton County’s M.E. Miller Tire Tri-State Showdown was voted Regional National Pull of the Year by the National Tractor Pullers Association (NTPA). The award, given to a promoter who does the best overall job conducting a successful NTPA event, was presented in December at the association’s convention and banquet in Columbus.
The M.E. Miller Tire Tri-State Showdown event, scheduled during Labor Day weekend, has earned this award 12 times since the first event in 1994.
Along with the Maumee Valley Tractor Pullers Association that operates the track equipment and trackside duties, the Fulton County Fair also won the NTPA Regional Pull of the Year 11 times in a row—from 1997 through 2007.
“The Fulton County event is just phenomenal,” said Gregg Randall, NTPA office general manager. “Each year there are approximately 100 competitor entries in seven divisions of competition.
“The action flows smoothly from staging area to the track to the pit area,” Randall said. “They really do a great job and are deserving of the award every time they have won it.”
Randall praised sponsor Ed Miller for getting involved with the pullers and the Fulton County Fair and Maumee Valley workers for the friendly way they carry out their responsibilities.
This year’s NTPA Regional National event is scheduled at the Fulton County Fairgrounds on Friday, Sept. 3.
