Seneca Township election 01.13.10

Posted in 2010 January

Seneca Township residents have until Jan. 25 to register for the recall election scheduled Feb. 23 at the township hall.

Absentee ballots must be requested from Morenci City Hall because city officials were appointed by the Lenawee County Clerk’s office to oversee the election.

Township resident Dayna Cordts filed a petition for recall in September, seeking to remove clerk Allison Ott and treasurer Marie Meinke from office.

Cordts’s recall petition alleges rude and disrespectful behavior during the Sept. 14 township meeting. The petition also faults the pair for voting in favor of enforcing a special use permit for Cordts’s child care facility.

Township residents can register to vote by contacting the clerk, Ott, at her residence at 5732 Ridgeville Rd., or by contacting the county clerk’s office at 425 N. Main St., Adrian.

Voter registration is also available at the Secretary of State’s office in Adrian.
