A Morenci FFA member will make his second consecutive appearance in the state Discussion Meet finals.

Morenci senior David Stutzman placed first at the Region II competition and will advance to the final scheduled Dec. 3 during the annual meeting of the Michigan Farm Bureau.

Waldron’s Mackenzie Price also qualified for the competition.

The regional contest was completed Oct. 28 at Camden-Frontier High School.

Topics discussed this year were: How can the agriculture industry (producers, processors, etc.) reach out to the public to gain their support on important issues impacting agriculture? What can be done to encourage young people to obtain and maintain a position in the agricultural industry or a production farming career and remain there?

The competition is sponsored by the State Young Farmers Committee.

Stutzman is a member of the Lenawee TECH Center FFA afternoon chapter. He serves as president of the group and  president of Region II FFA Chapter. Price is the sentinel for Region II and a member of Waldron FFA chapter.
