A Morenci student was one of four finalists for the Golden Hammer award presented to a residential construction department student at the LISD TECH Center.

Nick Merillat joined by Nick Benedict of Tecumseh, Brad Ford of Adrian and Drew Snyder of Blissfield. Ford was the winner. The award is sponsored by the Lenawee County Association of Home Builders.

Each of the finalists received a Craftsman 10-inch compound miter saw from Midwest Energy Cooperative. They also received a fully stocked tool belt from the home builders group.

The residential construction students built a two-story home in Adrian with Habitat for Humanity.

The Gold Hammer Award honors work ethic in addition to competency in the skill areas building construction  requires.
