Some new activities will be added to popular events of the past in Morenci’s Summer Day Recreation program at Wakefield Park.
The program starts June 23 and continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays through Aug. 6. Participants should meet at Wakefield for the program that is scheduled rain or shine from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
The session begins with games and activities in the park, but the first swimming trip to Archbold is scheduled Thursday, June 25. The bus will arrive at about 12:15 p.m.
No sessions are planned the next week, but the program resumes July 7 with a trip to Wauseon to watch a movie at the theatre.
Swimming and bowling are scheduled July 14 and 16, then swimming and skating the next week. Children should meet at the skating rink on the east edge of town for the July 23 event.
After a swimming trip July 28, an excursion to the Toledo Zoo is set for July 30. The bus will leave at 9 a.m. and return at the regular 3:30 time. Participants will be charged an additional $10 if they choose to take the trip to the zoo.
One final swimming trip is scheduled Aug. 4, followed by the final session Aug. 6 with a pizza party at the park.
Registration costs $15 for the summer. All children age five and older are invited to sign up.
Registration forms are available at city hall and are also published in this week’s Observer. One form should be used for each child in a family. Registration forms should be returned to City Hall by June 18 to help organizers plan events.
