Gabriel Lee earns Eagle Scout rank 5.20.09

A member of Morenci Boy Scout Troop 681 will receive his Eagle Scout award next month.

Since joining the Boy Scouts of America in June 2006, Lee advanced through the ranks and earned 28 merit badges. He was also inducted into the Order of the Arrow and serves a Senior Patrol Leader.

For his Eagle Scout project, he organized and directed the construction and placement of a picnic table and trash can at Morenci’s Riverside Natural Area.

In addition to his Scouting activities, Lee has earned Bronze and Silver Certificates for the Congressional Award (for community service, personal development, physical fitness and expedition); participated in the Siena Youth Symphony as the first chair trumpet, and with the Adrian College and Adrian City bands.

He was member of the Lenawee Youth Council and the Lenawee County Library Teen Advisory Board. He has volunteered with the Adrian Symphony and the Croswell Opera House and participated in the Hudson Soccer League.

Lee was dual enrolled as a high school student at Siena Heights University and is a graduate of the 2008 Michigan Freedom Academy.

This summer he will again attend the Michigan Freedom Academy and will also participate in the Air Force Academy Summer Seminar.
