Final show in Glasgow Organ series 4.22.09

Posted in 2009 April

The final concert of the Glasgow Organ series is scheduled at the Fayette Opera House at 3 p.m. Sunday. Bob Badertscher of Jackson, Mich., the featured organist, will accompany the Jackson Men’s Chorus.

Doug Laing, the director of the Jackson Men’s Chorus, directed a men’s chorus in Bangkok, Thailand, in the 1960s. He moved to Jackson in 1989 where he and his wife sang in the Jackson Chorale and various church choirs.

Laing sent invitations to men he had performed with, and initially 12 formed the Jackson Men’s Chorus. The chorus now consists of 20 men and has a repertoire of more than 110 pieces encompassing a large variety of both secular and sacred music.

Tickets cost $10 each and are available at the door or by calling 419/237-3111. Discounts are available for seniors and students.

Light refreshments will be served following the performance.
