Posted in 2009 April

The 170th Lenawee County Fair grandstand show features Julianne Hough—a country singing performer who was also a two-time champion on Dancing with the Stars.

Hough will perform on Thursday night during fair week July 26 to Aug. 1. Tickets for all fair events go on sale Saturday.

Most of the fair nights are scheduled with car, truck, tractor and motorcycle events.

The fair opens with a tractor pull on Sunday, followed by car races on Monday and Wednesday night on the Figure 8 track.

On Tuesday night, the Lost Nations Rodeo  is scheduled with bull riding, barrel racing and a rodeo clown to entertain the kids.

On Friday of fair week, the truck and car competition is scheduled on the dirt oval infield.

On the final night, flat track motorcycle racing is scheduled in AMA-sanctioned competition. The event is part of a series of motorcycle events culminating in September with the state finals.

Special prices are offered for tickets covering the entire seven grandstand shows throughout the week.

OTHER EVENTS: Three new events are scheduled at the Lenawee County fairgrounds, starting with a talent search next month.

The Colgate Country Showdown will come to Adrian May 15 as part of a nation-wide talent search.

The show is scheduled in the Show Barn, at the north entrance off Addison Street.  Admission costs $6 for ages 14 and up, and $4 for those 13 and under.

Motorcycle races are scheduled over the Memorial Day weekend.

The AMA sanctioned Regional Flat Track Motorcycle Race Series is one of five similar races in the country, with racers from Michigan and other nearby states competing on a short track, large oval and TT track on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, May 22, 23, and 24.

Also on that weekend, mixed martial arts (MMA) competition is scheduled in an event known as “Beatdown at the Fairgrounds.”

The July 4th weekend will feature the 11th anniversary of the Winter Street Motorcycle Rally, hosted by Larry’s Custom Cycles of Adrian.  A BBQ Rib-Off is planned along with free activities for children.  Fireworks are also planned that weekend.

Summer activity concludes with the AMA Flat Track Motorcycle State Finals Sept. 12 and 13.

Details of the 170th Fair Week will be released soon.
