Diabetes class in Wauseon 4.15.09

Posted in 2009 April

A Dining with Diabetes series will begin April 30 at the OSU Extension office inside the Robert Fulton Agriculture Center, 8770 St. Rt. 108, Wauseon. The program is scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m.

The class meets once a week for three weeks, plus a follow-up session after three months.

The series is open to those with diabetes, their family members and caregivers and costs $5 a person. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Participants must attend all class sessions.

Participants will learn how to prepare meals that are healthy, easy to prepare and taste good. Recipes will be demonstrated, and participants will have the opportunity to taste each one.  Participants will also learn up-to-date information on nutrition, meal planning, exercise and how to understand common diabetes-related medical tests.

Diabetes is a serious and costly disease, but research has shown that those who learn to manage their blood glucose (sugar) levels, eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly can lower their risks of complications and lead a healthier and more productive life.

To register, call the Fulton County Extension Office at 419/337-9210 by April 27.
