A Fayette graduate was awarded a $500 scholarship from the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #135.
Sean Franks, a senior at Ohio State University, is a senior majoring in criminology, with a minor in intelligence and terrorism.
The scholarship is based on the criteria of grade point average and contributions to the community in the field of study.
Franks is employed as special events manager for the Ohio State University Safety Services, a division of the Ohio State Police. His job provides security for concerts and Ohio State athletic events and assists the university police division in prevention and detection of criminal activity on campus.
Franks was one of few students selected for the department’s Criminal Activity Surveillance Team.
He has recently been in charge of a mentor program with the Ohio State University Police Department. The program provides training and career development and creates professional relationships between Student Safety employees and the University Police Department employees.
He has also developed other projects that contributed to his recent promotion to special events manager.
He is the son of Marcia and Tom Franks of Fayette.
